Also in yesterday's lesson, we looked at the elements of what makes up a music video. To demonstrate this we listened to Retro Grade by James Blake and wrote down anything we would associate with the video, including colours, images, locations, costumes, shot types, themes etc. Here are my inital thoughts from only listening to the piece:

From this activity it was evident that music can be interpretted in many different ways, especially this particular video. It made me realise that videos may not have to be so literal or even conventional to leave a lasting impression and fit the song. It also became clear that there was a lot to consider when making my own music video, as even small details in my imagination defined traits about the artist, which a good director should be able to portray to the audience. Before seeing the visuals of the song, I thought of the artist being quite sad and reminiscent and so I visioned him in a darker and worn down costume.
We then looked at the physical elements of what a music video is made up of and the stages of production. I have presented my information in the form of a Prezi:
